He gets dumped , and his friend offers him a mixed tape of country music
“This is the saddest music in the world, Once you can listen to this whole tape and not cry , then you know you are over it!”
The night after I found out the X had cheated on me , as I was cleaning up in the bar. Some R&B video was playing on the huge screen video juke box we have, it was their version of a lot of country music. “some one done me wrong” songs are kinda bad, but this video hit me in the solar plexus. I sat and watched the whole damn thing and was miserable.
When I got home I made a play list of the saddest songs I had, and proceeded to drink rum and weep silently … pretty morose eh?
Well…
That was some time ago, the snow was thick on the ground and the winter temperatures held the promise of a quick death. Now the snow is losing it’s battle against warmer temperatures and if you are fast you can brave the outside without a jacket for a short while.
And the songs on my “sad” play list don’t do it to me anymore, I can listen to all of them and not feel…
I guess it’s true, all scars fade and pain loses it’s potency … and after a while I guess even the saddest songs can be heard again without feeling like razors are being stroked against your heart.
For the record I missed some of those songs .
There is no point to saying all this . Beyond saying it.
I sing along, ya know… I always have … do you?
So here’s a list… not the sad song list
